As a warmup to the big downtown news conference set to begin later Friday morning, here are some renderings from architects Diller Scofidio + Renfro of Eli Broad’s new museum and archive building downtown.

The museum plans call for a 114,000-square-foot building on three floors at 2nd Street and Grand Avenue, with three levels of parking below. The top floor will include 33,000 square feet of column-free gallery space.
