Kevin Spacey to give arts lecture at Kennedy Center

Kevin Spacey is likely spending Tuesday celebrating the eight Academy Award nominations received by ‘The Social Network,’ a movie that he executive produced through his company, Trigger Street Productions. In April, Spacey will leave the glitz of the movie world behind -- at least for a day -- to talk about the state of the arts at the Kennedy Center in Washington.
Spacey is scheduled to give the the 24th Annual Nancy Hanks Lecture on Arts and Public Policy on April 4. The event is intended to ‘stimulate dialogue on policy and social issues affecting the arts,’ according to Americans for the Arts, the nonprofit group that organizes the lecture. Past lecturers include Robert Redford, Doris Kearns Goodwin, Wynton Marsalis, Ken Burns, William Safire and Robert MacNeil.
A spokeswoman for Americans for the Arts said that Spacey’s lecture will be webcast, with more details to come.
In addition to his film career, Spacey serves as the artistic director of the Old Vic Theatre in London. Spacey will perform at the Old Vic in Shakespeare’s ‘Richard III’ from June 11 to Sept. 11, reuniting with his ‘American Beauty’ director Sam Mendes. The production, part of the trans-Atlantic Bridge Project, is expected to travel to the Brooklyn Academy of Music in 2012.
