While Culture Monster has been celebrating Christmas with our Twelve Days of Christmas Flash Mobs countdown (see links below), we’ve been impressed at the careful planning needed for gathering large groups for massive singing and dancing in public-gathering places.

Turns out not everyone plans so well.

Our sister blog, LA Now (via the Sacramento Bee), reports on a Christmas flash mob gone bad, when too many people led to a mall closure and mass evacuation. Watch someone’s video above (and hear people booing the fire department). Click here to read all about it.

Twelve Days of Christmas Flash Mobs: Yo is just oy backwards (happy belated Hanukkah)

December 21, 2010 | 9:30 am
Hanukkah came (and went) a bit early this year but this flash mob, filmed in 2009 on Ben-Yehuda Street in downtown Jerusalem, was too good to be disqualified on a technicality.

‘Hanukkah Hey Ya’ is a cover of Outkast’s ‘Hey Ya’ by Smooth-E

By the way, if your Hanukkah knowledge consists of an Adam Sandler song and the grade-school agony of watching other kids get presents for eight whole days when you had to wait all the way til Christmas, let the Maccabeats give you the low down on the Jewish Festival of Lights via Tiao Cruz’s ‘Dynamite.
