The Music Center in downtown Los Angeles announced Thursday evening that it is renaming the Grand Hall at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in honor of donors Eva and Marc Stern.

Longtime supporters of the Music Center and its resident companies, the Sterns have made a recent gift toward the organization’s programming and arts education initiatives. A spokeswoman for the Music Center said the organization isn’t disclosing the specifics of the gift per the Sterns’ request, but she confirmed that the amount is in the millions of dollars.

Marc Stern serves as vice chairman and chief executive officer of The TCW Group, Inc. and chairman of Société Générale’s Global Investments Management and Services North American unit.

He is active with L.A. Opera, serving as chairman of the company’s board. He also is a member of the Music Center’s board of directors.

Eva Stern is a clinical social worker and serves as a director of InsideOut Writers, a creative writing program conducted within the juvenile detention centers throughout L.A.

The Sterns’ recent gift makes them the second largest cumulative donors -- after the family of Walt Disney -- to the Music Center and its resident companies.
