‘Love, Loss and What I Wore,’ written by Nora Ephron and her sister, Delia, has been keeping New York theater audiences in stitches since opening off-Broadway at the Westside Theatre in October.

The sartorially themed comedy, based on the book by Ilene Beckerman, is now heading to the West Coast for an engagement at the Geffen Playhouse in L.A. The play will run at the theater’s smaller Audrey Skirball Kenis Theater from May 13 to July 4.

Heading the cast will be actresses who appeared in the New York production -- Rita Wilson (wife of Tom Hanks), Carol Kane and Tracee Ellis Ross. In addition, two more actresses will be part of the Geffen cast.

The Geffen said there will be a switch in cast at the four-week point of the run.

‘Love, Loss and What I Wore’ consists of a series of vignettes and anecdotes drawn from the Beckerman book as well as the remembrances of the Ephron sisters, who grew up in L.A. and attended Beverly Hills High School. The stories involve romance, regret and, above all, fashion.

The production at the Geffen will be staged in the manner of ‘The Vagina Monologues,’ with actresses sitting side by side with copies of the script in hand.

In the New York run of the play, the rotating cast has included such celebrities as Jane Lynch, Rosie O’Donnell, Samantha Bee, Kristin Chenoweth, Tyne Daly, Janeane Garofalo, Michele Lee and Natasha Lyonne.

The show began as a series of readings in 2009 at the off-Broadway DR2 Theatre.

[Updated: a previous version of this story misspelled the name of actress Michele Lee. Also, Tracee Ellis Ross was featured in the New York engagement of the show.]
