Providing more proof that there is life after ‘High School Musical,’ actor Corbin Bleu has signed on to perform in the Broadway production of the Tony-winning musical ‘In the Heights.’ The engagement will mark Bleu’s Broadway debut.

‘In the Heights’ opened on Broadway in 2008 at the Richard Rodgers Theater and went on to win Tonys for musical, score, orchestration and choreography. The musical was also a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. Set in Manhattan’s ethnically diverse Washington Heights, the musical follows a handful of the neighborhood’s residents through their daily lives.

A touring production of ‘In the Heights’ (not starring Bleu) is scheduled to play at the Pantages in Hollywood from June 22 to July 11. The production will play at the Orange County Performing Arts Center in Costa Mesa from Aug. 3 to 15.

Bleu was one of the stars of Disney’s ‘High School Musical’ franchise. He played the character of Chad Danforth. In addition, Bleu has released his own albums and has made numerous TV appearances. A Southern California native, he studied at the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts.
