One didn’t have to leave the state of California in 2009 to experience the very best in world theater, although Angelenos would have benefited from a couple of trips to the Bay Area. ‘Next to Normal’ and ‘Fela’ -- for my money, the two best new Broadway musicals of 2009 -- will no doubt make it to Southern California before long.
