Incumbents battling colleagues for the same new congressional districts in next year’s elections recently added more backers.

Rep. Howard Berman (D-Valley Village), who is running for the newly drawn 30th District in the San Fernando Valley, has received the backing of the West Coast Studio Locals of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees. Berman’s main competitor, Rep. Brad Sherman (D-Sherman Oaks), earlier announced support from a Teamsters local and a Painters and Allied Trades local.

Rep. Janice Hahn (D-San Pedro), who is seeking reelection in the newly drawn 44th District, has added more support from several elected leaders in Carson: Mayor Pro Tem Julie Ruiz-Raber, Councilman Elito Santarina, City Clerk Helen Kawagoe and Treasurer Karen Avilla. Mayor Jim Dear announced his backing of Hahn earlier. Also seeking the seat are Rep. Laura Richardson (D-Long Beach) and Assemblyman Isadore Hall (D-Compton).
