Many voters in east Los Angeles County’s 58th Assembly District would be hard-pressed to remember when there wasn’t someone named Calderon in that seat.

Tom Calderon (D-Montebello) represented the district from 1999 through 2002, when he was succeeded by his younger brother, Ron, who in turn was followed by their older brother, Charles, who has held the seat for the last six years. Counting his earlier, pre-term limits stint in the lower house, Charles Calderon has put in more than 20 years in the Assembly but now is termed out. So brother Tom is looking to replace him in next year’s elections--running in the recently redrawn 58th District.

But the Calderons don’t limit themselves to that particular district--Ron announced recently that he’s running for Congress in the newly drawn 38th Congressional District--a seat Rep. Linda Sanchez (D-Lakewood) also wants. And nephew Ian Calderon (Charles’ son) has filed paper to raise money for a run for the new 57th Assembly District.

Score card, anyone?
