Gov. Jerry Brown appears poised to pick up more qualified support for his budget plan from a California business group.

Brown will meet Friday with the executive committee of the Bay Area Council in San Francisco. The council is likely to offer some form of support for the governor’s plan, although council spokesman Joe Arellano would not confirm this.

Brown’s budget plan includes a call for voters to approve billions in income, sales and vehicle taxes in a June election. Business groups have slowly been coming around to the idea of a special election on taxes, although usually with caveats.

On Thursday, California Chamber of Commerce President Allan Zaremberg hinted strongly that his group would eventually support the governor’s proposal. Last week, the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce backed Brown’s budget blueprint.
