Romero to lead new education group

November 1, 2010 |  2:57 pm

Gloria Romero wanted to be on the ballot Tuesday as a candidate for California’s next superintendent of public instruction.

But after finishing third in that primary last spring, the  Democratic state senator from Los Angeles  announced her next move after she leaves office this fall: leading a new education advocacy group in the state, Democrats for Education Reform.

The national group, with chapters in eight other states, will launch a California operation with Romero at its helm in spring 2011, the organization said.
