An estimated 55% of eligible California adults will cast ballots in Tuesday’s election, according to predictions from the Field Poll. Field also predicts more than half of all voters will cast their ballots by mail.

California voters head to the polls Tuesday to pick a successor to Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, choose a U.S. senator and vote up or down on nine statewide ballot measures.

Candidates for the state Legislature, Congress, other statewide offices and hundreds of local elected positions will also be up for grabs Tuesday.

Field Poll director Mark DiCamilo estimates Tuesday’s election will have the lowest turnout for a gubernatorial election since 2002, when voters narrowly reelected Gray Davis over Republican Bill Simon. A turnout of 55% would be the second-lowest turnout in the last 50 years. If you still haven’t voted and want to find your polling place, you can find it using this online search tool.
