Two candidates on two coasts with two similar campaign ads

A couple of New Yorkers have noticed some similarities between the TV ads for the Democratic attorney general candidate in that state, Kathleen Rice, and the Democratic attorney general candidate in California, Kamala Harris.

Both ads have ‘CSI’-style sound effects, slow-motion shots of the candidates flanked by police officers and lots of overhead shots of bridges. And, wouldn’t you know it, the two candidates share a media consultant, Murphy Putnam Media. Also noted: Harris’ ad aired first -- during her heated June primary campaign.
