Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger departed from his political script Wednesday to make fun of Rush Limbaugh’s weight and the recent outbursts of actor Mel Gibson.

Schwarzenegger, speaking to the National Assn. of Regulatory Utility Commissioners, told the standing-room audience he’s been lifting weights -- and recently hoisted 375 pounds.

‘I lifted Rush Limbaugh out of the chair,’ he said of the conservative radio host, who has long criticized the governor.

Schwarzenegger wasn’t done. He said there was a recent mix of good and bad news. The good: the BP oil spill has been contained. The bad: ‘Mel Gibson, no one knows how to contain.’

‘Everyone turn off your cellphones -- we’re expecting a call from him,’ the governor said to audience laughter.

A series of audio tapes allegedly of Gibson berating his former girlfriend and uttering racial slurs has been released by RadarOnline.com.
