A group of clergy from at least eight different faiths will take to the Capitol steps Wednesday morning for an unusual rally: praying to inject the presence of some “divine wisdom” into the California budgeting process, one day after lawmakers missed the constitutional deadline to pass a spending plan.

“They will ask for God to join the Big Five at the negotiating table and they will bless the legislators, lobbyists and other legislators and citizens who are working to try to create a workable budget for California,” said a notice from the Center for Spiritual Awareness. “We don’t know what God at the table will bring; we just invite the presence in.”
