The morning after dining at President Obama’s table at a White House state dinner, Assembly Speaker John Perez (D-Los Angeles) hit the cable news circuit. Appearing on MSNBC’s ‘The Daily Rundown,’ Perez said Jerry Brown should be rooting for Steve Poizner in the Republican gubernatorial race. ‘Steve Poizner’s an easier candidate to run against for a couple of reasons,’ Perez said, citing Meg Whitman’s vast personal wealth before being cut off.

Perez said he bent the president’s ear about California’s fiscal situation and made an appeal for increased federal funds to help the state. He also discussed the Arizona immigration law, but made clear again he did not support a state boycott of Arizona.
