Strategists for Republican gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman have summoned reporters at noon Friday to discuss a new ad launched by the California Democratic Party.
The ad marks the first paid advertising from the party in an attempt to influence the outcome of the Republican primary -- or at the very least weaken Whitman should she emerge as the eventual GOP nominee.
