With just 15 days until Election Day, California Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner continues his efforts to link Meg Whitman’s immigration views to that of President Barack Obama, while Whitman has turned to conservative celebrities to vouch for her candidacy.

Whitman, the former EBay chief, is featuring three of her most prominent backers in her new ad: former GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney, ex-Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Assn. President Jon Coupal.

‘A leader with the integrity and proven skills to bring California back,’ Romney says straight into the camera with a black background.

Poizner continues to focus on the issue of illegal immigration in a pair of new TV ads. In one, he compares Whitman’s position on immigration to that of Mexico President Felipe Calderon.

‘Do you want a governor that has the same position on illegal immigration as the president of Mexico?’ the ad begins, projecting the faces of Whitman, Calderon and President Obama on the image of a border fence.
