The average American will have to work for 99 days to pay off taxes from federal, state and local governments, according to a new study by a taxpayer organization. The Tax Foundation announced that April 9 is this year’s Tax Freedom Day, the day the group says the workers ‘have earned enough money to pay the nation’s tax bill for the year,’ according to a statement from the organization. This year, it took one day longer to reach Tax Freedom Day than it did in 2009. But the big day still came 22 days earlier than it did in 2000.
