Is San Francisco really the second-craziest city in America?

It is according to the Daily Beast, which published its ranking of ‘America’s craziest cities’ using four criteria: psychiatrists per capita, stress, eccentricity and alcohol consumption.

San Francisco came in No. 2 behind the overall winner, Cincinnati, boasting the most psychiatrists per capita of any of the country’s 57 largest metropolitan areas.

Other California finishers include Oakland at No. 11 and San Diego at No. 22 on the list.

As for Los Angeles? The City of Angels came in at No. 27. While L.A. ranked in the top five in eccentricity, our low psychiatrist density and our low drinking level (53rd out of 57!) drove us toward the middle of the pack of the nation’s craziest.
