It seems some high schools are having a problem with breast-cancer awareness efforts. According to an Associated Press story, some schools in California and Washington state are banning the stretchy bracelets that say ‘I love boobies’ or are asking students who wear them to turn them inside out because the bracelets apparently encourage inappropriate behavior on campuses.

The bracelets are sold by the nonprofit, Carlsbad-based Keep a Breast Foundation. The group focuses on providing information and boosting awareness about the disease for a teen audience. The ‘boobies’ bracelets sell for $3.99.

The foundation has released a statement on its website that says, ‘We fully understand the I Love Boobies Campaign is not for everyone; however, we also feel that ‘boobies’ is not a four-letter word.’

Who can argue with that?
