LIBYA: NATO shoots down Kadafi forces' Scud missile
A NATO warplane on Monday shot down a Scud missile fired from Sirte, Moammar Kadafi's hometown east of Tripoli, according to Al Jazeera network reports.
Al Jazeera cited information received by one of its correspondents. Reuters reported a U.S. Department of Defense official had confirmed the report.
Kadafi's forces, battling a rebellion that descended on Tripoli on Sunday and appears on the verge of toppling the longtime leader, had fired a Scud missile earlier in August, which landed in the desert and did not cause any injuries.
