LIBYA: Italian official warns of ‘unimaginable’ wave of immigration

Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini said a worsening of the crisis in Libya could trigger an ‘unimaginable’ wave of immigration across the Mediterranean Sea, according to Bloomberg.

‘Those who spoke of hundreds of thousands’ of people crossing into Europe ‘were not exaggerating,’ Frattini said in Brussels, where he was meeting with other European Union foreign ministers Monday. ‘We have already seen what happened in Tunisia.’
