Bet on 'Survivor's' Jeff Probst to win Emmy No. 4

August 16, 2011 | 11:59 am

Jeff probst emmyLooks like "Survivor" host Jeff Probst should clear space on his fireplace mantel for another Emmy statuette.

Probst has won the trophy for best host of a reality TV show all three years of its existence and has an excellent shot at prevailing again. CBS just confirmed to Awards Tracker that he submitted the "Rice Wars" episode to Emmy judges. Discussing the segment with us via webcam in May, he described the action thus: "A white guy and a black guy get into it about racism and it went deep."

The reason Probst keeps winning the category is because he's an active participant in the show, not just a ringmaster like the other nominated emcees. He acknowledged to us, "The format allows the host to be involved in the show and mediate some pretty interesting moments."

Last year, Probst won for effecting a medical rescue in "This Is the Man Test" when Russell, one of his tribe leaders, collapses while in the Samoa jungle.
