'Modern Family' will enter these six episodes in Emmy race for best comedy series
Last year "Modern Family" won major Emmy Awards for comedy series, comedy supporting actor (Eric Stonestreet) and comedy writing (Steven Levitan and Christopher Lloyd for the pilot episode). Looking back through Emmy history, just a few freshman shows have won best comedy -- "30 Rock," "Arrested Development," "Frasier," "The Cosby Show," "The Golden Girls" and "Cheers."
For the second season, "Modern Family" will continue its strategy of submitting all of its regular players (Julie Bowen, Sofia Vergara, Ty Burrell, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Ed O'Neill and Stonestreet) in the supporting categories. Last year, five of them were nominated, with only O'Neill missing the cut. For the comedy series competition producers have chosen six episodes for the judging panel if the show gets nominated again on July 14.
"OLD WAGON" (aired Sept. 22, 2010)
Phil (Burrell), Claire (Bowen) and the family take the old station wagon out for one last trip. Gloria (Vergara) is upset when Manny (Rico Rodriguez) invites a girl over to study. Mitchell (Ferguson) and Cameron (Stonestreet) try to build a princess castle for their daughter.
"THE KISS" (Sept. 29, 2010)
Cameron is upset that Mitchell never likes to display public affection. Alex (Ariel Winter) likes a boy but is not getting any help from her mother or sister. Gloria wants to cook more Colombian meals like her grandmother.
"MANNY, GET YOUR GUN" (Nov. 17, 2010)
It's Manny's birthday, but he is suffering a crisis about getting older. Phil and Claire have a car race to the birthday party. Cameron and Mitchell visit the mall to pick up a gift.
"CAUGHT IN THE ACT" (Jan. 19, 2011)
Phil and Claire are "caught in the act" when their kids bring them breakfast in bed. Mitchell and Cameron woo the owner of a hot new restaurant. Gloria accidentally sends a tough email to Claire and wants to get it back before it is read.
"SOMEONE TO WATCH OVER LILY" (April 20, 2011)
Mitchell and Cameron start secretly monitoring their family members to determine which ones will be the best to possibly be Lily's godparents.
"MOTHER'S DAY" (May 4, 2011)
Phil witnesses Jay (O'Neill) break down a little when remembering his mother's cooking. Claire and Gloria take the kids on a hiking trip where nothing much goes right. Cameron starts being concerned when people consider him to be the "mother" and Mitchell as the "father."
