Cat Deeley, the host of ‘So You Think You Can Dance,’ is having a crazed morning, in a good way. She’s just received a nomination for outstanding host for a reality competition program and she is beside herself.

Where were you when you heard? Where are you now?

I haven’t been able to get hold of my family in the U.K. yet. For me to come to America and have this kind of success is an amazing feat in itself, and, of course, all thanks to the production team and their wonderful job. For me to come to America, to have won an Emmy, to be the only girl in this category is absolutely amazing.

I heard about the news in bed. We taped the show yesterday, I’m literally running around right now, I’ve got wet hair and I’m still standing in my underwear. I kept saying to everybody, “No, it’s not gonna happen.”

It’s just incredible. I still haven’t gotten hold of my mother yet. She’s the first one I want to tell the news. She’s not technologically advanced so it’s harder to get in touch with her. Actually, she just learned to text, and I’ve been getting tons and tons of texts of unimportant information. She’s hilarious.

How will you spend today?

I am going into work right now. I only had one cup of coffee so far, and I need to have three. I’m literally running all over the place. When I say I’ve got wet hair and I’m in my underwear, I literally mean it. The show has been nominated too, so it’s going to be like a party there. To be honest, I don’t think it’s work anyway, I love what I do, I love my work, it’s a time to go hang out with people that I love.

So you’ve been host of “So You Think You Can Dance” for quite a while. How has it been? Do you foresee many more future seasons?

I’ve been hosting for six years. I think we will [have more]; we’ve had great ratings. I don’t think the show is going anywhere. The fans have been very loyal and passionate, and it makes us want to keep doing a good job.

What is the most challenging thing about your job?

I think most challenging and fun is that we are live, twice a week for two hours on a Wednesday and Thursday. You can’t make a mistake and there’s no retake, but at the same time it’s also a really fun thing because you’ve got your adrenaline going.

You’ve also been all over the place, like modeling and TV presenting.... Which one was your favorite?

I’ve got to say hosting. I love meeting people, I love being part of an entertainment show and celebrating people’s talents, I think the show really shows that the American dream is alive and kicking. If you have the talent and you work hard, no matter what your skin color is or to what religion you belong, you can make it. It’s a reality and entertainment show but it’s about celebrating talent, and I love that about this show.
