As my colleagues at the Show Tracker television blog have noted, ‘Saturday Night Live’ funnyman Jason Sudeikis, currently in his sixth season on the NBC comedy-variety series, has been tapped to be the host of the ‘2001 MTV Movie Awards,’ which will air June 5 from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City.

Sudeikis, who co-starred in the recent Farrelly brothers comedy ‘Hall Pass’ and will be seen July 8 in the new film ‘Horrible Bosses,’ follows in the footsteps of former comic hosts Aziz Ansari, Andy Samberg, Mike Myers and Jimmy Fallon.

The nominees for the awards, which include such categories as ‘Best Jaw-Dropping Moment’ and ‘Best Line From a Movie,’ will be announced May 3.
