Oscar nominated short films to get theatrical release

The short films nominated for an Oscar on Tuesday will be released in more than 150 theaters in the U.S. and Canada on Feb. 11.

Shorts International and Magnolia Pictures will release three theatrical ‘The Oscar Nominated Short Films 2011’ programs in animation, live action and documentary. This year marks the first time the documentary shorts have had a theatrical engagement before the Academy Awards.

Besides the theatrical run, the films will be released individually on iTunes on Feb. 22. The releases will also be available on Movies on Demand.

The 83rd annual Academy Awards will be presented live on ABC on Feb. 27 from the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood and Highland.
