EXCLUSIVE: Specialty powerhouse Fox Searchlight has made its first acquisition of the Sundance Film Festival. The company of ‘Black Swan’ and ‘Little Miss Sunshine’ has acquired most worldwide rights to ‘Homework,’ the Emma Roberts-Freddie Highmore teenage drama that premiered at the festival Sunday morning.

Gavien Wiesen wrote and directed the feature, his first, about two troubled teens and their relationship with each other and a 25-year-old artist. ICM’s Hal Sadoff represented the producers in the deal. The sale price was not immediately available.
