Frugal Fashion: Malin Ackerman goes mildly edgy at the Grammys

Actress Malin Ackerman looked dressed up with just a hint of edginess in the Cushnie et Och dress she wore to the Grammy Awards Sunday night. The keyhole opening in the bodice was part of it, but so was the figure-hugging silhouette and the hard-to-find-this-season peplum. Chunky shoes anchored the look, which was accessorized with a simple clutch, bracelet and cocktail ring.
The dress, from Cushnie et Ochs’ spring 2012 collection, retails for $2,295 at Bergdorf Goodman. But you can get a somewhat similar figure hugging, tiered effect for less.
For a dress try the Kohl’s Suite 7 tiered sheath dress, in white, which normally sells for $120, but which we found on sale for $89.99.
Or change up the colors and go for the Black Peplum dress from Windsor for $39.90.
Forever 21’s asymmetrical tiered dress is an option with a pop of bright color for $19.80.
For shoes, try the Katchy Cross Strap Pump from Payless for $29.99.
Finish it off with the Gold Tone Simulated Pearl ring from Kohl’s, which we found on sale for $12, or the Iridescent Fairytale ring from Forever 21, $5.80.
Add your own clutch, simple drop earrings and a bracelet, and you’re ready to go.
