Of all the merchandise tie-ins to Disney’s upcoming Muppet movie, the most head-scratching has to be the one with SpiritHoods, the Los Angeles maker of those animal-inspired faux fur tribal/hipster pieces of headgear that seemed to be all the rage last fall and winter.

The collection of limited-edition, Muppet-character-inspired SpiritHoods, has pieces for children and adults, ranges in price from $99 to $169, and is expected to launch online through SpiritHoods’ website and at the Fred Segal Santa Monica location on Oct. 3.

Characters include riffs on Kermit (in green with those particular Kermit eyes), Miss Piggy (a pink shawl accented with a perky pair of ears and pink-accented trotters), Gonzo and Animal, guaranteed to help die-hard fans channel their inner Muppetness like never before.

As for the rainbow connection?

As far as we know, you’re still on your own.
