Sifting through the wires, one can only imagine the excitement, the glamour and the grandeur of New York Fashion Week. Luckily for those of us watching from afar, fashion critic Booth Moore has been in the Big Apple all week, giving us the inside scoop. And from the looks of it, all the cool kids are out in full force.

In the front rows, musicians and Hollywood stars are rubbing elbows with fashion’s elite. Anna Wintour and Nicki Minaj were spotted together at Prabal Gurung, Malin Akerman and Abbie Cornish made appearances at Tommy Hilfiger and at Diane Von Furstenberg, Susan Sarandon sat next to Oscar de la Renta.

With so many celebs, it’s fun to look at all the fashion happening off the runways. Among the best-dressed attendees was actress and singer Mandy Moore, who sat front-row at the Lela Rose runway show in a bright, poppy short- sleeve, tulip-skirt dress and an abstract bib necklace from the designer. She carried a faint blush-colored clutch (from Westward by Emily and Meritt for Kate Spade New York) and striped strappy sandals. Moore’s look brought to mind Cyndi Lauper’s ‘Girls Just Want to Have Fun.’ She looked radiant, and her matching lipstick popped against her dark locks.

Give a similar kick to your fall wardrobe with a dress in vibrant poppy such as the Ponte tank dress from Armaniexchange.com for $98. For a more casual look, in a similar color, try the Rumi dress from J.Crew for $89.99.

Moore’s abstract necklace gives her soft look a bit of edge. For a similar piece try the black and silvertone bib necklace for $19.95 from New York & Co., Statements by DCK short necklace for $24 from Nordstrom.com, the Beams of Ra necklace from Anthropologie.com for $19.95 or the Luv Rocks by Luv AJ tapered necklace available at Urbanoutfitters.com for $54. [Updated Sept. 14, 12:45 p.m. Ra was originally misspelled as Raw.]

Moore’s striped sandals aren’t a must for this outfit but they are a fun addition to solid dresses, pants and shorts. For a similar pair try the Trouvé ‘Behave’ Sandal from Nordstrom.com for $72.90 or the striped journal sandal from Madewell.com for $69.99.

The eye-popping color, geometric jewelry and playful sandals will add some fun to any occassion. I can already envision a grand garden soiree, brunch with mimosas or a hot designer runway after-party.

Happy shopping!
