September 13, 2011 |  9:22 am

Leila Lopes Miss Angola, 25-year-old Leila Lopes, was crowned Miss Universe 2011, becoming one of the few black women to win the world's largest beauty pageant. Her beauty secrets? Get a lot of sleep, drink a lot of water and wear sunblock always, no matter your skin tone or whether it is sunny outside.   [News Advance] [People]

Christina Hendricks overshadowed red carpet maven Sarah Jessica Parker at the New York premiere of Parker's new film "I Don't Know How She Does It." But it was pretty clear how Hendricks did it. It wasn't so much her rose-colored dress by Vivinenne Westwood as it was the amount of cleavage the dress revealed. [Us]

Parker talked about dressing her character, Kate Reddy, in the film. Unlike Carrie Bradshaw in "Sex and the City," Reddy isn't one to wear designer duds. "I wanted to be certain she didn't start dancing around Carrie Bradshaw territory," Parker said. "So the clothes were 100% off the rack. And when I say off the rack I mean from a discount warehouse in Lower Manhattan." [Telegraph]

Nicki Minaj was sitting front and center at Carolina Herrera's Spring-Summer 2012 show at New York Fashion Week, making fashion watchers pause to wonder why a pop star known for creating her own outre style was viewing a show whose designer is known for classic elegant gowns? And sitting right next to Vogue Editor Anna Wintour, too, the Telegraph reports in their daily fashion week roundup. [Telegraph]

Meanwhile British label Mulberry threw itself a 40th anniversary party in New York -- they were also celebrating the opening of a flagship store -- and the music and revelry grew so loud, neighbors called the cops. [Telegraph]

Beyonce and Solange Knowles Our Booth Moore is covering Fashion Week, of course, so be sure to check in with All the Rage for updates. She sends a photo of Beyonce and her sister Solange Knowles -- at the J. Crew spring presentation Tuesday morning at Lincoln Center. Solange is apparently a fan of the brand, and brought her sister along as her plus-one. Solange was wearing a shocking pink exploding bow blouse by Prabal Gurung for J. Crew and Beyonce was wearing a sequin dress from J. Crew Collection.

The life of fashion icon Millicent Rogers is celebrated in a new book, "Searching for Beauty: The Life of Millicent Rogers” (St. Martin’s Press), by Cherie Burns. A launch party for the tome is scheduled Tuesday in NYC.  [WWD]

Ralph Lauren will be the exclusive advertiser on the New York Times' iPad app for the month of September.
