Mawi’s Minnie Mouse jewelry

Forget the flimsy felt mouse ears hat, London-based costume jewelry company Mawi has created a Minnie Mouse-inspired line of accessories with Disney Couture -- called Minnie x Mawi -- that’s decidedly more chic and grown-up than the items to which Minnie’s likeness is usually attached.

The collection marries the edgy and sculptural look of Mawi with the traditionally whimsical and girlie look of Minnie Mouse. Her rounded ears are a running feature through most of the line and are an instant giveaway that this is a Disney collaboration.

There are baublely pearl necklaces that subtly feature some black enamel ears, and more overtly Minnie Mouse pieces such as a gold chain with the ears (and a red-and-white polka-dot bow pendant) hanging from it.

Characteristic of Mawi, everything in this collection is a statement piece. It’s not for the wallflower who loves Minnie Mouse, but for those who love bold jewelry and see it as a way to inject some personality into their look via their accessories.

The Minnie x Mawi collection hits retailers such as shopbop.com and Bloomindales for fall. Prices range from $75 to $250.
