Spider-webby, femme fatale lashes were seen on the fall runways and a new product from Hourglass Cosmetics, Film Noir Lash Lacquer, is a top coat for mascara that give lashes the same effect without having to glob on more mascara or glue in fakes.

The beauty brand likens its lash lacquer to a top coat for nails or a high-shine gloss that goes over lipstick. First you swipe on your regular mascara and then apply the lacquer, which wraps around each lash and makes them shiny and much, much darker.

A quick test of the stuff definitely pumped up my (so sparse, I can almost count them on one hand) lashes, without creating a tangled globby mess like reapplying mascara over already dry mascara does. My lashes looked shiny and more defined -–somewhere between regular mascara and fake lashes. I could see this being a good day-to-night product to bring on some evening movie star drama without having to redo makeup.

Hourglass Lash Lacquer is $28 and launches in Sephora stores on Thursday.
