The curated secondhand clothing shop Buffalo Exchange on Friday is opening a new location in Santa Monica with ‘a little more of a bohemian, beachy feel’ than the store it’s replacing in Westwood, according to Patrick Wilson, the company’s L.A.-area manager.

The store hasn’t even opened for business, but passersby at its new Main Street digs have already placed holds on items in the window, including a Coach handbag and 7 Diamonds fitted shirts.

‘We’re trying to get the store built, and people just keep coming in and out,’ Wilson said, adding that the 2,300-square-foot Santa Monica store has more items and more variety than the location it’s replacing, which was smaller.

In addition to the bohemian and beachy, there’s spring-inspired merchandise, skate and surf for men and designer and business attire for men and women -- all previously worn but in good condition and for a lot less money than first-run retail.

Buffalo Exchange has six stores in the L.A. area. Wilson said it decided to close its Westwood location and replace it with a new store in Santa Monica because so many of its Westwood shoppers were coming from Santa Monica, and merchandise was so difficult to get when students were gone from nearby UCLA.

Buffalo Exchange, 2449 Main St., Santa Monica. (310) 314-7300. Hours: Monday-Saturday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Sunday Noon to 6 p.m.
