A traveling Cynthia Rowley boutique is scheduled to make its West Coast debut this weekend, when it pulls into Newport Beach’s Fashion Island shopping center on Friday.

The converted shipping truck, kitted out with hardwood floors, a fitting room and Lucite fixtures, is supposed to be stocked with the entire range of items in the Cynthia Rowley collection -- that’s clothes, shoes, bags and accessories -- which seems quite a load for something that’s about the size of a UPS truck (maybe there’s a sidecar stash parked around back). It’s also a treat for fans of the brand since the next closest Cynthia Rowley boutique experience is in Chicago.

The truck will be open for business from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6, and Saturday, Aug. 7, and from noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 8 (look for it parked at the Fashion Island valet between Macy’s and the Apple Store).

After Fashion Island, the shop-on-wheels plans to work its way up the California coast, stopping at assorted boutiques and private homes (by appointment) along the way. If you’re too busy to make it down this weekend -- or just want to see the reaction on your husband’s face when he finds a truck full of fashion parked in the driveway -- e-mail the truck to arrange a personal curbside visit.

And, if you want to keep tabs on the truck (including surprise stops along the way), you can follow the trek on Twitter.

Cynthia Rowley ‘Shop on Wheels,’ Fashion Island, 401 Newport Center Drive, Newport Beach, Aug. 6 to Aug. 8.
