Forget the mouse ears, princess tiaras and T-shirts emblazoned with Tinkerbell. Those are fine for little girls, but tweens want something, well, more fashionable. Now their wish upon a star comes true: Disney is partnering with Target on a new line of back-to-school clothes and accessories inspired by popular Disney Channel teen characters, but with hardly a character likeness in sight (unless you count one rather dreamy rendition on the shirt in the outfit above. Other pieces are completely character-free.)

First up in the D-Signed line, and on sale starting Aug. 1, is a collection based on the style of Sonny Munroe, the lead character on ‘Sonny With a Chance,’ who is played by Demi Lovato. The collection, priced from $4.99 to $19.99, includes skirts, embellished graphic tees, pants, knit dresses and more. The collection will be available in Target stores and online for three months and then will be followed by a Sonny Munroe holiday collection. Future collections will be based on other Disney Channel characters, including Alex Russo (played by Selena Gomez) on ‘Wizards of Waverly Place.’

Lovato kicks off the enterprise with a YouTube music video featuring her song ‘Me, Myself and I,’ directed by filmmaker Ross Ching. Take a look below.
