Gabbana’s ‘grazie’ is a sweet tweet from the street

The same technology that makes it dirt simple for anybody with an Internet connection to complain, vent, kvetch, ax-grind and scream from the cyber rooftops also has an upside -- it makes just as effortless to say ‘thank you.’

I’ve been reminded of that recently -- first when Old Spice pitchman Isaiah Mustafa sent along a personalized towel-clad ‘thank you’ video after a recent All The Rage post (yes, I know it was part of the brand’s whole viral-marketing strategy -- and I was far from the only recipient of such a video), and again this afternoon when Twitter-smitten Italian fashion designer Stefano Gabbana (half of the Dolce & Gabbana team) tweeted his thanks for last week’s Image section Q-and-A.

It’s a little embarrassing though, since it had me headquartered in the Show Me State. It read, in its entirety: ‘Thank you to ADAM TSCHORN for the great article on KANSAS CITY.COM,’ which leads me to believe his incarnation of Google Alerts must’ve siphoned up this version, instead of the original. (And before you fire off an e-mail, the Kansas City Star is located in Kansas City, Mo. -- not in Kansas.)

Oh well, live by the pixel, die by the pixel, right? Besides, he did spell my name right -- and when you’ve got a last name with a 6-to-1 ratio of consonants to vowels (and one of those consonants is a silent one), that in itself is a rare feat.
