Events: Harveys open canvas launch party is tonight

Harveys, maker of seat belt woven handbags, is launching the Intro Art and Fashion Design Competition tonight with an event at which guests can meet contest judges and demonstrate their art skills on canvas, using pens by party sponsor Sharpie. The art competition began Friday and ends in November when three contenders are selected to mount art exhibits at Harveys and have their designs go into production on a seat belt bag. Among the judges who will attend the party are Harveys founders Dana and Melanie Harvey, Tarina Tarantino and Paul Frank. Buy a bag from Harveys’ fall collection ($50-$300) at the party and get a special Sharpie.
