Something about a popular cable show gets designers’ creative juices flowing. Michael Kors turned out a “Mad Men”-influenced fall 2008 line and now Alber Elbaz is citing Glenn Close’s character and wardrobe in the FX drama “Damages” as the inspiration for Lanvin’s pre-spring 2010 collection.

Close’s character, the high-powered litigator Patty Hewes, dresses in sharp suits, crisp-collared button-downs and no-nonsense knee-length skirts created by Domenico Vacca and costume designer Frank Flemming.

Looks like the power suit won’t stop with fall ‘09, but will most likely get stronger with Elbaz’s deft tailoring skills, come next spring.
