Today, Ronald D. White writes in The Times’ Business section that while other sectors of the clothing industry might be floundering, nothing comes between buyers and their designer jeans. To wit, White says, ‘Sales of premium brand jeans grew by 17% during 2008 and eked out a 2.3% increase in the most recent three-month period that ended in February.’

This is especially true in our town, according to one of White’s sources (as well as one of our favorite sartorial bloggers):

For an Image section cover story, The Times’ Carla Hall recently interviewed some of the fortunate who can still afford to spend on luxury in tough times. Are you one of those lucky folks? Maybe you’re in the midway point and can afford some True Religion jeans, but you’re skipping out on a new pair of Christian Louboutins? Or are you saving your pennies every which way? Chime in below. It won’t cost you a thing.
