This Sunday’s cover story in the Image section is on the glorious styles of ‘church crowns,’ or the colorful millinery seen on Easter Sunday services and the like. ‘Easter was the true beginning of spring, the day when hats in spring colors blossomed throughout the congregation,’ writer Karen Grigsby Bates reminisces in this article, adding that although times have changed in some respects, ‘On Palm Sunday in South L.A., the pews of West Angeles Church of God in Christ were splashed with plenty of color: broad brims in coral, pink and cream trimmed in ribbons and flowers; lampshade profiles in aqua and pistachio; and high-hat toppers in dusty rose, trimmed in lace and festooned with silk flowers.’

Times photographer Kirk McKoy captures some of these looks in this photo gallery, but we’re sure he missed a couple. Since spring is a season of new beginnings, we want to see how you ring in the festivities -- from an Easter hat to the new outfit you’ve had stored in the back of the closet. Show off your spring holiday fashions in Your Scene: Your Self Portrait gallery. We’ll post some of these looks in the All the Rage blog next week.
