‘Gossip Girl’s’ well-timed ‘80s spinoff?

Like totally timely: A poster allegedly for the ‘Gossip Girl’ spinoff ‘Valley Girls’ has leaked online. While gossip blogger extraordinaire Perez Hilton says it looks ‘a little stereotypical 1980s,’ fashionwise, the timing couldn’t be better for the CW’s show about the life and styles of Serena van der Woodsen’s mom, Lily, (played by Brittany Snow in the spinoff about Lily’s youthful escapades and Kelly Rutherford on ‘Gossip Girl’).
We don’t think the costume designers for ‘Valley Girls,’ which is set to air May 11, will have to dig through vintage stores. If the autumn-winter 2009 fashion shows are any indication, 1980s fashions are back. Shoulder pads up, girls.
