We’ve just received word that Bobby Jones, the purveyor of golf clubs, golf accessories, upscale golf-appropriate sportswear and resort wear is shuttering its Beverly Hills location, which just happened to be the first of the standalone Bobby Jones boutiques, dating to November 1998.

Parent company Hartmarx Corp. (which filed for bankruptcy last month) has also shuttered -- or is in the process of shuttering -- shops in Las Vegas, and Hawaii, leaving shops in Naples, Fla., and Atlanta, and an in-store shop in the Fifth Avenue Hickey Freeman store in New York City and a handful of outlet stores.

To clear inventory off the floor, golf clubs will be sold at a 50% discount and everything else (fall/winter merchandise is on the shelves) at a whopping 70% off through this Saturday (Feb. 14).

And if you head over Wednesday morning, you might cross paths with one of our favorite local menswear watchers -- Andy Gilchrist, author of ‘The Encyclopedia of Men’s Clothes,’ who urged readers of his own blog to join him at the store on the 11th to ‘make a party of it.’

Bobby Jones, 310 N. North Beverly Drive, Beverly Hills, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
