They’re rich and talented celebrities, and they’re longing to be interns. In a KROQ-FM (106.7) interview that aired last night, Kanye West told deejays Kevin and Bean that after his new album drops on Monday, he plans to take some time off from music and pour his energy into learning about fashion design. West said he may take an internship at Louis Vuitton or with friend Raf Simons in order to understand the process of designing a line. No doubt some sharp skills to bring to his yet-to-launch line Pastelle. West did attend art school for a few years before breaking big into music, but dropped out. That worked out OK for him.

Music producer Dallas Austin is one step ahead of West. He actually spent a week in L.A. recently as an intern for denim giant Jerome Dahan. Austin is looking to expand his Rowdy clothing line to include denim and wants to learn from one of the most experienced and successful people in the business.

So will West go on cigarette runs for Marc? And did Dallas get Jerome his coffee every morning? Of course not. But they are still brushing aside a little ego (hard for West, I’m sure) to call themselves interns.

With so many celebrity lines out there, it’s refreshing to hear that a few are taking the time to learn about the process, not just slap their name and image on something for sales. But for anyone out there up against West for a coveted fashion internship -- good luck.
