With word out that Victoria Beckham and Katie Holmes may collaborate on designing a fashion line for kids, it seems like a good time to ask: How much do you spend on your kid’s clothes? The BBC reports that 68% of mothers now spend more bucks on their children’s clothes than their own. The Rage’s dear mom relied on Sears for this burgeoning fashion writer’s play clothes. The smell of freshly washed Toughskins is almost Proustian -- see ad from 1976, right. Nowadays, it’s all about Juicy Couture and Burberry for kids. A five-year-old should not be able to pronounce the word ‘couture.’ A quick glance at Neiman Marcus for kids reveals a Petal Tea dress for $225 and a Dolce & Gabbana onesie and blanket for $105. Or the Alice + Olivia belted dress for $176, above.
The Rage will home-school her children and make them all wear the same outfits every day -- it will feel like a Wes Anderson movie.
