Actor Andrew Koenig, 41, found dead in Vancouver, Canada

February 25, 2010 |  6:29 pm

"Growing Pains" actor Andrew Koenig, 41, has been found dead, Vancouver police said Thursday.

At a news conference in the downtown park where his body was found, police said foul play was not suspected. But they would not release a cause of death because the coroner was still investigating.

The actor’s father, Walter Koenig, said his son "took his own life." Walter Koenig played Pavel Chekov on the original "Star Trek" TV series.

Friends found the body about noon Thursday in a heavily wooded area about 100 feet from a popular foot path.

Koenig was visiting friends in Vancouver when he disappeared more than a week ago.

The Venice native had a recurring role on the 1980s sitcom as Boner, a pal of star Kirk Cameron’s character, Mike.
