Really amazing sign

Lionsign

Fohara submitted this photo, titled "Stay in your car" to the "Weird Warnings" gallery. As far as I know, wild lions live solely in Africa. Is there a rogue pride running loose across Indonesia, attacking indiscriminately? So many mysteries. Anyway, really cool sign. Thanks, Fohara.

This is awesome

Weird We of the Your Scene "management" LOVE gags. So it's always exciting when we see that Your Scene users love them, too!

Exhibit A: In this photo, submitted by ST to the "What's Going On Here?" album, the shouting boy seems to have been viciously attacked by the dachshund lolling on the grass. The boy's severed hand lies stretched between the crazed animal and a nice backyard shrub.

ST follows up with a illustrative close-up of the dog, Bean, and the gag rubber hand. So, no calls to the SPCA or CPS, please.

Nice one, ST. You and Bean rule!

This one's for you, Reggie

reggie the gator celebrates his anniversary today!

Okay, okay.

I admit that this photo is not technically Reggie the gator himself, but it's the best I can do, okay?  Be gentle, 'Sceners.  I show you this photo only to illustrate a milestone in the life of every Angeleno's favorite reptile.

Folks, today Reggie celebrates his one-year anniversary as a resident of the L.A. Zoo!

(Okay, maybe "celebrate" is too strong a word...I bet he's plotting his next escape, actually.  But hey, he's a fighter and I respect that!)

Happy Anniversary, Reggie!

The gas prices of Death (Valley)

the worst gas prices i've seen yet! in death valley no less.

Yikes.

Submitter Kristin sends us this crazy photo taken at a Death Valley gas station.  Sends an involuntary shudder down your spine, no?  "Mark Pozorski shot this pic two weeks ago in Death Valley; his record gas purchase.  Most Motorcycles require Premium. It went up to $5.90/gal. last week," Kristin explains.

Over at CNN's iReport, they have a photo from what appears to be the same Shell station with a slightly different price, apparently taken a week ago, but price is still well above $5 per gallon.

Imagine -- just days ago our pal Peter Viles over at L.A. Land (the Times' real estate blog) showed us high prices in Brentwood.  And now this?

You can check out other readers' photos of the rising cost of gas here.

These are the worst gas prices we've seen yet -- but you tell us.  Have you seen (gulp) worse?  Send us a photo (just choose the "Your News" category and the "Pain at the Pump" album).

More terrifying than a swarm of killer bees...

geese attack dog!

Who knew geese were so mean?

I mean...I knew swans were mean.  But, call me naive, I just thought geese kinda honked and flew south, all passive-like.

It looks like Damien made the same mistake!

these geese are mean!

Don't make me go in!

Warehouse

Your Scene user DrRoebuck submitted this photo of a creepy, abandoned downtown L.A. warehouse in the album "L.A. Eyesores." Can anyone tell us where exactly this is?  We want to hang out there at night and scare ourselves silly.

I take back all my complaints about the 405

danger elephant crossing

I'll just let submitter Steve49 explain this one:

Elephant on the road, Kruger Nat'l Park, So. Africa
Moments later, the elephant turned on the car- it was following too close. No picture of that- I was going into reverse and so was the other car!

I believe the appropriate response here is "Yizzikes!!!"

"One side will make you grow taller..."

crazy caterpillar with a human face!

O.M.G.

If I were more adept at Photoshop I would totally add a tiny hookah to jazflwr's awesome photo here.  Can't you picture him chatting disapprovingly with a miniature Alice?  That's what I thought!

How 'bout a closeup, shall we?  We shall.

And I thought my roommate's cat was scary

this cat needs an exorcism

Wowza.

This looks like a job for...Cat Psychic!!!

Submitter Jakapod says, "I shot this of a kitten that I was fostering. He was merely playing with me but looks deranged. No effects were added."

I kind of wish that effects had been added, know what I mean?  Aaaaahhhhhh!
