Brouhaha at Dodger Stadium
These Dodgers are M-A-D!!!
Our own Kevin Baxter describes the fight:
With both teams struggling, it was only a matter of time before the frustration boiled over. That happened after Torrealba dropped the third strike when Kemp struck out to end the eighth. The Rockies catcher quickly retrieved the ball and as the two players' feet tangled, Torrealba tagged the Dodger outfielder. When Kemp took exception by pushing Torrealba, the catcher responded with a shove to the throat, igniting the fight.
"He kind of shoved me and I shoved him back. It was just out of frustration," said Kemp, who is probably facing a suspension. "It was really stupid. It was not a good decision on my part. But it happened and you've got just to deal with whatever it is that comes after that."
Crazy night at the ol' Ravine, hmmm? Good thing submitter Ross was there to capture the action! Thanks, Ross!

Remembering the awesome Bo Diddley!
Who's still sad about Bo Diddley?
Maybe this photo from submitter Syl will make us all feel just a smidge better. Syl says:
Through the 80s my husband Steve Propes was a DJ on KLON (now KKJZ). Our daughters, Heather and Shea met Bo Diddley at the Music Machine in L.A. doing his RnB show.
I would also like to take the opportunity to point out that, in addition to the multitude of fascinating biographal facts you've certainly read by now, the man had stellar taste in hats!
Aw, R.I.P. Bo.

Universal Studios Fire
Y'all sent us some great photos -- and even videos!! -- of the Universal Park Fire (which sources are now saying was sparked by workers' heating tools).
These are a few of our favorite shots -- and you can see them all here.
Of course, if you took photos or video of the fire, we'd be much obliged if you'd send 'em our way! Go here to submit (just choose the "Your News" category and "Universal Studios Fire" album).
A reader's video of the fire after the jump (apologies to Internet Explorer viewers who may have trouble viewing)...

Strange weather
Um, rain and hail and even mudslides and tornadoes in Southern California? Wasn't I just complaining mightily about the heat wave?
Maybe God's angry that we're cloning dogs?
Submitter Edward Kotz sends these photos ("Flooded streets forced motorists to abandon their vehicles when torrential rains affected the region on May 22, 2008," Edward explains), taken yesterday in Irwindale. Can you believe?!
For more photos, check out our SoCal Storms album. And of course, if you've got photos of this wild weather, we'd love to see them -- go here to submit (choose the "Your News" category and "SoCal Storms" album). Good luck out there!

The gas prices of Death (Valley)
Yikes.
Submitter Kristin sends us this crazy photo taken at a Death Valley gas station. Sends an involuntary shudder down your spine, no? "Mark Pozorski shot this pic two weeks ago in Death Valley; his record gas purchase. Most Motorcycles require Premium. It went up to $5.90/gal. last week," Kristin explains.
Over at CNN's iReport, they have a photo from what appears to be the same Shell station with a slightly different price, apparently taken a week ago, but price is still well above $5 per gallon.
Imagine -- just days ago our pal Peter Viles over at L.A. Land (the Times' real estate blog) showed us high prices in Brentwood. And now this?
You can check out other readers' photos of the rising cost of gas here.
These are the worst gas prices we've seen yet -- but you tell us. Have you seen (gulp) worse? Send us a photo (just choose the "Your News" category and the "Pain at the Pump" album).

Calling all Silver Lake hipsters!
We've got a project for you!
The Silver Lake Reservoir, as you may know, is being refilled -- so it'll look once again like it did in David's photo here!
We're on pins and needles here, folks. Have you got photos or videos of the reservoir in any stage of refilling-ness? We'd love to see them. Send 'em here (choose the "Your News" category and the "Refilling the Silver Lake Reservoir" album) and we'll post 'em here!
Thanks a million, hipsters!

The Griffith Park Fire, remembered
I can't believe it (don't know about y'all), but it's been a year since the Griffith Park Fire. You sent us almost 450 amazing photos from all over the city, and they're really worth checking out. (But we've assembled a few of our favorites here.)
More after the jump!

I voted (and I have the picture to prove it)
Today it's all happening in Indiana and North Carolina (as you all know already, of course).
But what I'd wager you don't already know is that you can get results live live live with Top of the Ticket's Twitter feed. Sign up! You know you'll feel better afterwards, because you'll be getting all that late-breaking, campaign-shaking drama before all your friends.
Twitter feed? Free. Making your acquaintances feel inferior? Priceless.

Gas prices from hell
Submitter Arthur Goulet says this gas station had a "defective sign", but it looks pretty accurate to me.
Our good pal Peter Viles over at L.A. Land (the Times' real estate blog) is talking today about a theory that gas prices were the straw that broke the housing market's back. Whether you agree or disagree with that sentiment, it's hard to argue that these prices (captured by y'all) are anything less than crazy!

The Sierra Madre Fire, through your lens
Great news for Southern California: the Sierra Madre Fire is fully contained!
"We aren't sure if it was on purpose or accidental," says U.S. Forest Service spokesman Marty O'Toole. Its cause is still being investigated.
